Impressive MCU cosplay perfectly captures the God of Mischief's bold new look from his final moments in Loki season 2. While plenty of characters have had satisfying arcs in the MCU, few have gone through such drastic and well-liked as Loki. Initially, a well-acted but fairly stereotypical trickster villain, several movies and two seasons of his own self-titled Disney+ TV show elevated the character into a truly memorable hero of the multiverses (even succeeding in continuing Loki's character journey through his hitherto permanent death in Avengers: Endgame).
Given Loki's status as one of the most iconic MCU villains (and, later, heroes), it's no surprise that he's inspired more than a few pieces of cosplay from talented fans. mattcosplay is one such person, taking to Reddit to share their perfect take on Loki's most recently-worn outfit.
While the poster clearly bears some level of resemblance to Loki actor Tom Hiddleston, the makeup used to sell the illusion pushes the cosplay to the next level on top of the already impressive clothing and headpiece.
Where Loki's MCU Story Can Go Next In The MCU Close The last time Loki appeared in the MCU was in the 2023 finale of Loki season 2, which saw the god sacrifice his freedom to take control of the multiverse's expanding timelines from He Who Remains. Shortly after realizing how deeply he needs companionship, Loki resigns to a seemingly infinite destiny, sitting alone outside of time and physically holding the multiverse together. However, it's unclear if this was meant to be the grand finale for the character as a whole or simply an important step in his journey. Comments from actor Tom Hiddleston seem to imply it may be the former.
However, it seems possible that Marvel may want to bring the god back for a final appearance on the big screen. With Loki now playing such a critical role in the safety of the multiverse, it does seem possible he could show up in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty if a variant of the titular villain causes problems for Marvel's timelines. Moreover, Marvel Studios may want to unite Loki and Thor, which could also happen in a possible but currently unannounced Thor 5. While this Loki and the MCU's Thor don't know each other as they're from different timelines, seeing the potential their sibling has to accomplish good could bring closure to both characters.
There is, of course, the possibility that the Loki season 2 finale truly is the end for the iconic trickster. While it would be disappointing not to see Hiddleston step into the role again, it's hard to argue that his last appearance doesn't act as a nearly perfect finale for a character arc that ran over a decade. The TVA will be back as soon as Deadpool & Wolverine, but it's possible that Loki could remain off-screen moving forward. A big-screen return could confuse audiences who don't follow the TV side of the MCU and risks undoing what was already an affecting close to Loki's arc.
