The Batman 2 Star Offers The First Hopeful Filming Update For Upcoming Sequel

Summary
  • Andy Serkis teases an early 2025 filming start for The Batman - Part II at ACE Superhero Comic Con.
  • Matt Reeves is diligently working on the script for the highly anticipated sequel.
  • The Batman's universe continues to expand with The Penguin, setting the stage for new characters and story developments.
Following its delay for 2026, one of the actors for The Batman - Part II reveals some optimism for the DC sequel's principal photography. Even though the DCEU movie timeline had its many struggles over the last few years, 2022 was a success for a different DC franchise as Matt Reeves' The Batman Universe came to life with Robert Pattinson as the next cinematic Caped Crusader. While a spinoff series in Reeves' franchise, The Penguin, is arriving on Max this year, the world is actively waiting to get any new details on The Batman - Part II.
At this year's ACE Superhero Comic Con (via PopVerse), The Batman cast member Andy Serkis - who played Alfred Pennyworth in the 2022 installment - was one of the featured guests, and The Batman - Part II came up during his panel. Serkis revealed that they are likely set to start "filming early next year" while laying out the hypothetical timeline for production before the film's release:
Basically, I know nothing about the movie other than that I've just found out that we're probably likely to be starting filming early next year. Therefore, if you do the math, it'll be a year and a half after that. I know that Matt [Reeves] is working really hard on the script. Matt Reeves being Matt Reeves, the extraordinary filmmaker that he is, I can only assume that it's going to be another brilliant script, because I thought what he did with that first film was pretty amazing. I loved working with Rob Pattinson, and I really look forward to playing Alfred once more.
