The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been revealed. The Marvel Cinematic Universe should change for the better next year, with 2025's The Fantastic Four: First Steps bringing Marvel's First Family to the MCU. When announcing the Fantastic Four reboot's cast, Marvel released official concept art of the actors as their MCU heroes, wearing 1960s-style Fantastic Four suits. However, it turns out that the movie's actual team costumes look quite a bit different.

8 Fantastic Four MCU Costumes' Comics Inspiration & Changes Explained The MCU Suits Changed A Lot From The Concept Art Close When the MCU's Fantastic Four cast was announced, Marvel released official concept art of the team that showed Reed Richards, Johnny Storm, Sue Storm, and Ben Grimm all in blue Fantastic Four suits. There were some white elements to the costumes, as
the collar section and the boots of the suits were white, breaking up the predominant blue. At the center, the MCU's Fantastic Four logo was also made up of a white circle with a dark blue four. The suits seemingly had a pinstripe style on the chest and legs, though whole sections were simple blue.
The new white and blue Fantastic Four suits seem to be a nod to the John Byrne era of the team.
As seen by the costume Joseph Quinn is wearing as Marvel's new Johnny Storm,
the MCU's Fantastic Four suits have much more white than even the concept art. The upper arm of the costume is fully white, trailing from the Human Torch's sleeves up to his collar. Quinn's Johnny Storm also can be seen wearing black and white gloves. The Fantastic Four logo on his chest continues to be predominantly white but now has a smaller blue circle amid a larger white one. The blue pants remain untouched and Johnny's boots cannot be seen.
The new Fantastic Four suits seem to be a nod to the John Byrne era from Marvel Comics. Instead of the classic black and blue costumes, the team wore more prominently white for the first time.
This design was first used in the 1980s, which is a couple of decades after the 1960s-set The Fantastic Four: First Steps. That said, the MCU suits are not exactly the same. In the comics, there was no white on the sleeves, and the collar was shaped in a circle. The belts were also larger, while the live-action version appears to be relatively thin.
Marvel's Fantastic Four Differs From Previous Fantastic Four Movies The Costume Marks A Major Departure Close The costume may take inspiration from the comics, but
it is a massive departure from the more recent movies in the franchise. The 2005 Fantastic Four movie featured each character wearing navy blue and black costumes with a dark pattern broken only by the white circular logo on the left side of their chests. They also wore high collars and black gloves. The Thing was the exception, as he lacked a shirt and avoided wearing gloves that could cover his rocky hands. To maintain his connection with his team, he wore the logo in the center of his belt.

The 2005 style influenced the 2015 remake, which featured an all-black suit broken only by scatterings of blue. It was intended to mimic a more militaristic style and did not include the prominent logo. The Thing also did not wear any clothing, as he was simply too large to fit into anything suit offered to him. The other characters wore unique costumes, matched only by the dull coloring. The lack of any costumes is because they were still experiencing their initial origin. That explains an understandable change, as the new Fantastic Four won't be an origin story.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is drawing inspiration from the comics and from the first live-action costume in franchise history.
The MCU is seemingly taking most of its live-action inspiration from the unreleased Roger Corman movie. In this version, the characters wore a large white belt, a circular white logo, and an enormous and circular white collar. While the MCU will not feature a circular collar,
Corman's is the closest suit to the upcoming costume. It features a lighter blue, an abundance of white coloring, and even includes white gloves. In returning to the roots,

The Fantastic Four (2025) Marvel's Fantastic Four is the first MCU movie to feature Marvel's First Family in the same live-action universe as the Avengers.
