8 Reasons Spider-Man Should Team Up With Deadpool Next In The MCU

Marvel would be foolish for not teaming up Tom Holland’s Spider-Man with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool in the MCU, and here’s why. One of the most anticipated properties coming down the pipeline in Phases 5 and 6 is Deadpool 3. Aptly, it will be uniting the Merc with a Mouth with Wolverine, notably bringing Hugh Jackman back after his presumptive coup de grâce in Logan. Aptly, Deadpool 3 is being looked at as the best chance for the MCU to finally introduce the X-Men ahead of the Multiverse Saga’s culmination in Avengers: Secret Wars. Regardless, it will be exciting to see how Deadpool function and play in such an expansive franchise.
Deadpool and Wolverine together isn’t the only major team-up to look forward to in the MCU’s future. Spider-Man is now primed for some great team-ups after Spider-Man: No Way Home left him alone and in need of new allies. There are several popular options available including Daredevil and Human Torch whether in Spider-Man 4 or elsewhere. However, Spider-Man and Deadpool may be the perfect MCU team-up since both heroes are at pivotal moments in their cinematic arcs, giving them a bold start at something new. The MCU shouldn’t squander the opportunity they have available to them, and should thus pair these two heroes up together sooner rather than later.
8 Spider-Man Needs A Different Kind Of Superhero Team-Up Dynamic After Spider-Man: No Way Home resulted in the world forgetting Peter Parker even exists, all of Spider-Man’s partnerships and connections within the MCU dissolved. This means Spider-Man 4 and his new trilogy’s story can explore him under exciting fresh contexts, such as by teaming him up with other heroes, so they don’t just run back to MJ or Ned. They can show how he operates on his own, practically back at square one, a divergent arc from the MCU standard centering his story on a relationship with a mentor figure. Deadpool can be the perfect solution to ensure Spider-Man’s next arc is a bold departure from the norm.
Spider-Man needs to interact and engage with all sorts of different heroes beyond what is naturally part of an Avengers movie. Spider-Man 4 is the perfect place to showcase him expanding and growing beyond the legacy of his first trilogy. Deadpool would be a bold catalyst for such an evolution for he is the further thing from any of Spider-Man’s past relationships. He is no mentor. In fact, in this partnership, it could be young Peter who ends up being the more mature and straight-laced hero, which is just an intriguing opportunity no other hero can give to Spider-Man.
7 Spider-Man & Deadpool Have A Fun Comics History Despite being two of Marvel’s most popular heroes, Spider-Man and Deadpool’s history together is a relatively recent thing, but it’s ripe with fun and entertaining options from which the MCU can draw inspiration. Their first significant crossover cam in 2006’s Cable & Deadpool #24 by Fabien Nicieza & Patch Bircher in which Deadpool was hunting down one of Peter’s coworkers from the Daily Bugle. Since Deadpool didn’t know who Peter secretly was, he made no qualms about throwing him off a bridge to get to his target. That sort of dynamic is already perfect for the MCU as Peter’s secret identity is once again integral to his character.
