DC"s Black Superman Movie Would Be Better Without Clark Kent

The Black Superman movie is still moving forward over at DC, and the project would be better if it did not include Clark Kent at all. Despite James Gunn and Peter Safran recently taking over DC and pivoting the company into a new direction with their creative vision for an interconnected DC Universe, the duo is still seeing some of the studio's old projects through — via an Elseworlds banner — which appears to be the case with the already announced Black Superman movie being written by Ta-Nehisi Coates and produced by J.J. Abrams.
It is not yet clear if the Black Superman movie intends to use Clark Kent. Following Henry Cavill's Superman exit late last year, the best move for the new DC management would be to forget Clark Kent altogether for its Black Superman movie. DC could easily tell the story of the universe's greatest hero without having to re-imagine the character, as there are already two great versions of a black Superman in the comics for the movie to pull from. Besides, Clark Kent already has a future set in the new DC Universe.
