Ms. Marvel Actor Iman Vellani Wants To Team Up With X-Men Like Emma Frost, Jubilee, & Wolverine

Summary
  • Iman Vellani wants to see Ms. Marvel team up with Wolverine and Emma Frost from the X-Men due to their interesting dynamics in the comics.
  • Vellani also hopes to show Ms. Marvel building relationships with younger X-Men, including Jubilee and other younger heroes.
  • Ms. Marvel's mutant status and potential future connections to the X-Men could be a key factor in tying together the Young Avengers, Avengers, and X-Men teams in the MCU.
Iman Vellani reveals which of the X-Men she wants to see Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, team up with in the future. The finale of Ms. Marvel established that Kamala is a mutant when her best friend tells her about her mutation as the 90s X-Men animated series theme played in the background. The Marvels and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness also set up the X-Men in the MCU, although they are alternate versions from a different universe.
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant for The Marvels, Vellani also discussed which of the X-Men she wants to see Ms. Marvel team up with. She explained that Wolverine and Emma Frost's dynamics with Kamala in the comics are some of her favorites. Vellani also hopes to show her building relationships with the younger X-Men including Jubilee. Check out Vellani's full quote below:
Iman Vellani: Oh my God, there's so many. I love Kamala's relationships with older superheroes because it feels like she just has so many mom and dad superheroes. In the comic that I'm writing right now, I have her interacting with Emma Frost a lot, and I thought that was such a wonderful relationship because in Grant Morrison's run, Emma is such a maternal figure and in a lot of ways, she really cares about the children, but she's so cutthroat, and I love that she doesn't sugarcoat anything for Kamala.
She would be straight up, no BS telling her how things are, but then still stroke her hair and take her shopping and do all that. And I love to see her having a relationship like that. That would be cool. I always say Wolverine because their interaction in the comics made me very happy. Gosh. Angel, Jubilee, all the younger people. I think there's so many to choose from, honestly. It's impossible. Lila Cheney, imagine if she interacted with Lila. And Lila's music is probably well-known, and Kamala is definitely a fan of hers, so that would be pretty cool to see Kamala freak out over her and then get teleported away. That'd be fun.
How Ms. Marvel Can Tie The Avengers & X-Men Together Close Ms. Marvel has become a major part of the MCU as a whole, with ties to the Young Avengers, Captain Marvel, Nick Fury, and mutants. Although her mutant status has not yet been explored, it will likely become a major point of her story when the X-Men become a part of the main MCU universe. The Marvels showed her interacting with other heroes, including Captain Marvel, Nick Fury, Monica Rambeau, and, briefly, Kate Bishop.
Related 'Cementing Ms. Marvel’s Role in X-Men Mythos': Marvels Star To Lead Kamala's Mutant Journey into New Series The talented Iman Vellani is set to write another Ms. Marvel limited series with Sabir Pirzada, bringing Kamala Khan and the Fall of X to Jersey City. Kamala Khan could be the key to bringing the Young Avengers, Avengers, and X-Men together as a common thread between all three teams. As she continues to learn and grow as a leader and member of a team, the X-Men can offer her a new lesson, a lesson that could help her better understand who she is. Family and history are hugely important to Kamala, and when the truth about mutants comes out and she learns more about her own mutation, she could be drawn to the X-Men and how she relates to them more so than the other superhero team.
Emma Frost and Wolverine could be interesting mentors, especially with Kamala's overexcitedness when meeting other heroes. Bringing in the younger X-Men could be a way to truly bring the Young Avengers and X-Men together to form one team, with Kamala leading the charge. This could lead to an even more cohesive team of heroes in the future that can face down more dangerous threats than even the Avengers have faced. Exploring Kamala Khan's mutant side and desire to be a hero through new relationships with the X-Men can further establish her as the glue that brings the MCU heroes together.
