Thor 5"s Best Way To Fix Love & Thunder Was Already Shown 6 Years Ago

Summary
  • Thor 5 should learn from the success of Thor: Ragnarok by overhauling the franchise after a disappointing movie, just like Ragnarok did for Thor after The Dark World.
  • Thor: Love and Thunder suffered from trying to include two important storylines in one film, hindering their potential and resulting in a lack of development for Gorr the God Butcher and Jane Foster's transformation into The Mighty Thor.
  • Thor 5 should feature a tonal shift to a darker story, with Waititi's signature comedy sprinkled throughout, to allow the characters to breathe and create a more balanced and emotionally impactful film.
The best way for Thor 5 to fix the Thor franchise after its disappointing predecessor, Thor: Love and Thunder, was already revealed six years ago in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Chris Hemsworth is the first MCU star to get the chance to lead four solo movies — with Tom Holland's Spider-Man 4 soon matching his feat — and although he could be gearing up for another movie as Thor in the near future, Thor 5's story would need to serve as a way of course-correcting the franchise after Thor: Love and Thunder didn't turn out as the crowd-pleaser that Marvel Studios and MCU fans were expecting.
Thor: Love and Thunder included two important comic book storylines: the Gorr the God Butcher arc, and the story of Jane Foster suffering from cancer and becoming The Mighty Thor. Each of those narratives deserved its own movie to shine, and fitting both in a single film hindered their potential — with Gorr's lack of god butchering being especially notable. Thor: Love and Thunder also had a major tonal issue, as those stories largely required a more mature atmosphere, but the movie's more serious moments were undercut by a huge dose of juvenile comedy. If Thor 5 ends up being one of the MCU's upcoming movies, then a 6-year-old Thor fix could be re-employed.
