Is Guardians of the Galaxy 3 The Last One?

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
James Gunn has completed his Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy, but viewers may wonder if Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is the last one. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 provides a satisfying conclusion to the story of Gunn’s initial team, sending all but two of the founding members on their separate ways. Moreover, Gunn himself, whose direction defines the franchise, has ended his MCU tenure with the third Guardians of the Galaxy film, further solidifying the apparent end of the franchise.
By the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Star-Lord, Mantis, Drax, and Nebula leave the team (and the alternate timeline’s Gamora goes back to the Ravagers), leaving Rocket in charge of a new Guardians of the Galaxy team that includes Groot and newcomers Kraglin, Cosmo, Adam Warlock, Cosmo, Phyla-Vell, and Blurp. The film is the definitive end of Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy films and his original lineup, with Gunn now co-leading DC Studios, but there is potential for more Guardians movies.
