Daredevil: Born Again star Charlie Cox elaborates on how the Marvel Cinematic Universe series will live up to the action in Netflix's Daredevil TV show. The Devil of Hell's Kitchen is about to have a bigger role than ever in the MCU timeline, as Daredevil: Born Again will continue the adventures of Matt Murdock, with Cox reprising the iconic superhero. Production on Daredevil: Born Again season 1 wrapped a few months ago, as post-production is currently taking place on the episodes that will air in March 2025.
While a lot of story details on the Daredevil: Born Again TV show are being kept under wraps, there will be a major element that will carry over from Netflix's Daredevil series. At this year's Fan Expo Boston (via Collider), Cox opened up about things that the MCU audience can look forward to in the upcoming Marvel release. One of these regarded the action beats that were highly praised in Netflix's Daredevil, with Cox teasing that "those who are excited by [oners] will not be disappointed", having explained to audiences about the concept and what it entails:
There's different types of oners. A oner is a fight scene that takes place in one shot, without [cuts.] So there's things called a true oner. So a true oner is when it really is one take and there's no editing, there's no cuts, there's no morphing, which is when you move the camera past something that is a solid color, and then you can technically then cut during the black of that. So, if the camera moves past someone’s black shirt, there's a moment during that where the whole screen is black, and you can then stitch a different take after that. So it looks like it's a oner, but it's actually not.

How Oners Can Help Daredevil: Born Again Be As Good As The Original Netflix Show Close Ever since it was announced that Daredevil: Born Again would put Cox's character back in the spotlight, it was made very clear by the MCU audience that they want the series to be as close as possible to Netflix's Daredevil TV show. Even though this won't officially serve as Daredevil season 4, Daredevil: Born Again is, more or less, an MCU sequel in many regards. But even if it is not a direct continuation, putting this much focus on replicating its action is something that is going to be a huge advantage for Daredevil: Born Again.
Throughout every season of Daredevil, the action scenes were one of the core aspects of the Marvel-Netflix drama, including their iconic oners, allowing the MCU to not only get very gritty but deep into the street-level concept. The action of Daredevil: Born Again going as far as to mirror the iconic stylistic choices made here supports the idea that it can replicate the best parts of the show while still being its own thing, ensuring new and old audiences are both appealed to.
That is why it was a big deal when it was revealed that Philip Silvera, who worked as the stunt coordinator on Daredevil, had been tapped to fill the same role in Daredevil: Born Again. That is one of the best things to come out of Daredevil: Born Again's creative overhaul in 2023, as Marvel Studios appears to be committing fully to honoring the original series as much as possible, which seemingly extends to using oners in the new show.
With it having been a couple of years since Daredevil ended its run on Netflix, it will be intriguing to see how the new oners will be executed throughout Daredevil: Born Again, and the other ways in which it seeks to match the action-packed but also plot-focused narrative of the original series. Hopefully, as Daredevil: Born Again is confirmed to premiere in March 2025, it won't be too long until the first trailer is unveiled to the world.
