  • The mystery character in James Gunn's Superman movie has drawn a lot of attention and generated much speculation about their identity as a result.
  • The popular theories for this masked DCU character are currently that they're either Ulysses or Ultraman.
Following the reveal of a secret character in Superman who heavily resembles Black Noir from The Boys, the Prime Video star chimes in on the DC mystery. The Superman movie cast is getting closer to finishing principal photography as DC Studios gets ready to launch the new DC Universe. However, one of the biggest mysteries surrounding the movie is the masked character that has been revealed in set photos, which many have commented looks a lot like The Boys' Black Noir.
In a new interview with Screen Rant to promote The Boys season 4, Nathan Mitchell, who had seen the Superman set photos of the new character, was asked what his additional thoughts were on the DCU figure. Mitchell expressed excitement about seeing a character who heavily resembles Black Noir, and The Boys star had some insightful thoughts on what may be going down in James Gunn's Superman movie. The actor expressed how it is crucial for a Superman film that is happening in 2025 to reflect "the context of the current superhero landscape," sharing the following:
Nathan Mitchell: It was so cool; I was so surprised. I was like, "Wow, are they doing a version of Black Noir in this film?" and again, I don't fully know what they're planning. If I were to guess, I would say it’s a version of Black Noir in this shot that we've seen. My take on it is that if you're gonna make a case for Superman in 2025, you have to make a case for him in the context of the current superhero landscape.
That superhero landscape includes The Boys and The Seven. So I think it's really smart to compare and contrast and make a case for Superman in a world where a team like The Seven might exist. I don't know for sure, but my guess is perhaps they're doing something like that, and I'm really honored by the possibility that Black Noir could have been an inspiration for a character in a Superman movie.
