Supergirl Movie Villain Details Set It Up To Be DC"s Own Version Of Keanu Reeves" 86% RT Score Success

A recent DCU casting update suggests Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will follow a similar plot to John Wick. Set to release on June 26, 2026, the DCU"s upcoming Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow movie will be based on the eponymous comic book storyline written by Tom King in 2021. Given the character"s comic inspirations, Milly Alcock"s Kara Zor-El will be an experienced, independent superhero long before her arrival on Earth. In fact, Supergirl"s first DCU adventure will likely take place far away from Kal-El"s second home.
DC Comics" Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow storyline makes some changes to Supergirl"s traditional comic book lore. In the 2021 storyline, a young alien girl called Ruthye hires 21-year-old Kara Zor-El as a mercenary to kill her father"s murderer. Depowered due to the absence of a nearby yellow sun and wielding a sword, Kara accepts Ruthye"s quest, and both young women embark on a dangerous cosmic mission together. Kara Zor-El"s motivation to help Ruthye bears some resemblance to a modern action movie hero.
Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow's Villain Details Make The DCU Movie A Version Of John Wick Supergirl's First DCU Story Could Follow A Brutal DC Comics Plot Similar To John Wick In DC Comics" Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, Supergirl initially rejects Ruthye"s plead for help. However, the same man who murdered Ruthye"s father, Krem of the Yellow Hills, shoots arrows at them, and Supergirl"s dog Krypto gets injured while protecting his owner. Krypto"s injury is what inspires Supergirl to accept Ruthye"s mission and track down Krem. If Supergirl"s motivation sounds familiar, it might be because it"s almost the same as John Wick"s. In September 2024, Matthias Schoenaerts was cast as Krem of the Hills for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.
