5 MCU Characters Powerful Enough To Do Endgame"s Snap (Besides Hulk)

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has seen a variety of events in over a decade of movies, but Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War and Iron Man’s snap in Avengers: Endgame are its biggest and most emotional moments so far, and the latter could have been different had it been done by another character powerful enough to handle the Infinity Gauntlet with the Infinity Stones. The first three Phases of the MCU set up Thanos’ quest for the Infinity Stones to mount them on the Infinity Gauntlet and, with their power, fulfill his plans of bringing balance to the universe by wiping out half of life in the universe. Although the MCU’s heroes joined forces to stop him, Thanos got what he wanted in Infinity War, leaving a couple of heroes alive to undo what he did.
The Time Heist in Avengers: Endgame allowed the surviving heroes to get the Infinity Stones and with the help of a Nano Gauntlet developed by Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, and Rocket Raccoon, Smart Hulk undid Thanos’ snap. After fighting Thanos and his armies during the Battle of Earth, Iron Man made the ultimate sacrifice by taking the Stones from the Nano Gauntlet and mounting them into his suit, allowing him to do the final snap. Iron Man doing the snap in Endgame was fitting with his superhero journey and the future that Doctor Strange saw in which they defeated Thanos, but in terms of power, there are other characters who could have done the final snap with better chances of surviving – and here are five of them.
5 Thor Thor is one of the strongest and most powerful superheroes in the MCU, but at the time of the events of Avengers: Endgame, that wasn’t the case. In Avengers: Infinity War, Thor used Stormbreaker to stab Thanos in the chest in an attempt to stop him from snapping his fingers, but the Mad Titan famously told him he “should have gone for the head” before doing the snap. This led Thor to feel guilty and sent him into a deep depression, causing him to gain weight and spend his days drinking beer and playing video games. Thor wasn’t in his best mental and physical shape by the time he joined the rest of the surviving heroes for the Time Heist, and when it was time to decide who would wield the Nano Gauntlet with the Infinity Stones, Thor volunteered in an effort to redeem himself. Thor was stopped by the rest, who told him he was in no condition to do it, so Smart Hulk ended up doing it as he was the strongest Avenger at the moment.
Had Thor been in better condition – physically and mentally – at the time of the events of Endgame, he could have taken the gauntlet during the Battle of Earth to get rid of Thanos once and for all and get his redemption moment (and Iron Man would have survived). Thor’s Asgardian physiology would have allowed him to withstand the power of the Infinity Stones, and he has been portrayed as being as strong as the Hulk, so the Gauntlet might have left him with a couple of injuries as happened to Smart Hulk, but he would have definitely survived.
