Why The MCU"s Adam Warlock Is Weaker Than His Comic Version

Will Poulter's Adam Warlock isn't nearly as powerful as his comic book counterpart in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but there's a good reason for that. James Gunn's first two Guardians of the Galaxy movies featured incredibly powerful characters such as Ronan, Ego the Living Planet, and Thanos himself. So, when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 teased Adam Warlock's introduction, it seemed as if the Sovereign's creation would be the Guardians biggest threat in the last installment of the trilogy.
Adam Warlock beat the Guardians to a pulp at the beginning of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and his attack on Rocket Raccoon is the event that kicks off the main plot of the movie. However, after Nebula stabs Adam Warlock with her new cybernetic arm, Adam stops being a threat for the rest of the film. He's chastised by the High Evolutionary, fails to save Ayesha, and faints multiple times before saving Star-Lord from freezing in outer space and joining the Guardians of the Galaxy. But while Adam Warlock's MCU debut may be underwhelming, he seems likely to make a bigger impact in the future.
How Powerful Adam Warlock Is In The Marvel Comics Both the MCU and the Marvel Comics versions of Adam Warlock were artificially designed to be the perfect living being. In the comics, Warlock has lived up to that title, matching the power level of characters like Silver Surfer, Thor, Mephisto, Ultron, and Thanos. Death has only made him stronger, as he's reborn revitalized every time he comes out of his cocoon. And though the comic book version of the Infinity Gauntlet isn't as harmful to the user as the one in the MCU, it's still impressive how powerful Adam Warlock becomes when he wears it in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, as he's the one who singlehandedly stops Thanos and Nebula.
Adam Warlock is still incredibly powerful without the Infinity Gauntlet, as he possesses a wide range of cosmic and mystical abilities such as telekinesis, transmutation, teleportation, astral projection, and soul manipulation. Warlock's use of the Infinity Gauntlet caused him to develop an evil side, who materialized as the villain "Magus" by the living forces of Chaos and Order. More ruthless than the original Warlock, Magus became so powerful that he has had Thanos, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Galactus, and Adam Warlock himself under his thumb.
GOTG 3's Adam Warlock Is Still Very Young Ayesha believed Adam Warlock would be the perfect weapon against the Guardians of the Galaxy, but the High Evolutionary sabotaged the experiment when he awoke Warlock too early in his rushed attempt to get Rocket Raccoon back. This early awakening caused Warlock to be not only weaker than intended, but also more naive. Had the High Evolutionary waited until Adam Warlock's development was fully ready, Warlock would likely have annihilated the Guardians of the Galaxy as soon as he arrived in Knowhere. At the very least, he could have been fast enough to save Ayesha during Counter-Earth's destruction.
