Spider-Man vs Kingpin: Who"s Stronger In The Marvel Comics & The MCU

Summary
  • Spider-Man and Kingpin are destined to battle in the MCU's future, as Kingpin has been set up as a major antagonist for New York's street-level heroes.
  • In Marvel Comics, Spider-Man is much stronger than Kingpin, but the MCU version of Kingpin may be a more even match due to his seemingly-superhuman strength.
  • Spider-Man 4 could bring the iconic battles between Spider-Man and Kingpin from Marvel Comics into live-action, though both characters will potentially receive power upgrades.
Two of the strongest characters in the MCU, Spider-Man and Kingpin, haven't yet come to odds, but are perhaps destined to battle in Marvel Studios' live-action future. While Kingpin is a relatively new addition to the MCU's main continuity, Tom Holland debuted as Peter Parker's Spider-Man back in 2016's Captain America: Civil War, and has since become a member of the Avengers and embarked on a trilogy of Spider-Man projects, dubbed the "Home Trilogy". Conversely, 2021's Hawkeye marked Vincent D'Onofrio's MCU debut as Wilson Fisk, and a further appearance in 2024's Echo has laid the foundations for his world-changing future.
While Wilson Fisk's Kingpin has been more associated with Daredevil in the MCU and in Marvel Television's Defenders Saga, he was actually introduced to Marvel Comics as an adversary of Spider-Man back in 1967's The Amazing Spider-Man #50. Kingpin and Spider-Man have fought several times in Marvel Comics, but haven't yet had the chance to meet in the live-action MCU. However, this is likely to change in the coming years, as Kingpin has been set up as the Thanos-like figure to the MCU's street-level heroes, including Spider-Man and Daredevil, so the pair will soon engage in a battle of strength.

Who's Stronger Between Spider-Man & Kingpin In Marvel Comics Close Marvel Comics' Kingpin doesn't have any superhuman abilities, but he is still incredibly strong, with most of his body mass being made up of muscle, despite his overweight appearance. Conversely, Spider-Man has been enhanced by the radioactive spider that initially bit him, gifting him superhuman strength, agility, durability and a regenerative healing ability, as well as being able to utilize the van der Waals force to stick to walls. Although Kingpin has an incomprehensible level of physical strength, this is no match for Spider-Man's enhanced gifts, as Spider-Man is able to hold up entire buildings and take on the Hulk.
During their first interaction, Kingpin formed a coalition of villains and abducted J. Jonah Jameson to silence his reporting on his crimes. Spider-Man returned from his brief absence and thwarted these plans, beginning an age-old vendetta against the young wall-crawler.
Nevertheless, Kingpin has still been able to hold his own against Spider-Man on several occasions, using his muscular physique, body armor and hand-to-hand combat skills to get the upper hand. Kingpin has previously picked up Spider-Man and thrown him into walls, and has been shown to stand his ground during their battles, but there's no doubt that the wall-crawler is far stronger. Spider-Man has always bested Kingpin, and has even displayed a punch so powerful he has knocked Kingpin out in one blow. However, Kingpin is far more scheming, and more capable at manipulating the world from behind the scenes.
Who's Stronger Between Spider-Man & Kingpin In The MCU Close While Spider-Man is stronger than Kingpin in Marvel Comics, the distinction is less clear in the MCU. While Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk was shown to be simply human in Marvel Television's Daredevil, Marvel Studios has teased Wilson Fisk having superhuman strength in the MCU's main continuity, as he was able to survive an arrow to the chest, being hit by a car, and being shot in the eye in 2021's Hawkeye. This level of durability sets up Kingpin as an almost-even match for Tom Holland's Spider-Man in the MCU's future, though it's likely the wall-crawler will still take the victory.
Marvel Studios has recently integrated the Defenders Saga into the MCU's official timeline on Disney+, suggesting that Wilson Fisk's backstory and the events of Daredevil may now be canon to the MCU, which may only make his recent increase in strength even more confusing.
Throughout his MCU timeline, Spider-Man has taken on various Avengers in Civil War, lifted a collapsed building and held the Staten Island Ferry together in Spider-Man: Homecoming, brutally fought the Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home, and even held his own against the Mad Titan Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. The MCU's Peter Parker has demonstrated some incredible feats of strength, fully displaying his superhuman abilities, and perhaps proving that his strength, agility, durability and persistence would let him best Kingpin. The MCU's Kingpin may fare better than Marvel Comics' iteration, but would still likely be defeated by Spider-Man.
How Spider-Man 4 Could Make Spider-Man & Kingpin Even Stronger Although news has been scarce, Spider-Man 4 is in development at Marvel Studios, and is expected to kick off a new trilogy featuring Tom Holland's Peter Parker. While the details of the upcoming project haven't been revealed, many are hoping that Spider-Man will finally face off against Wilson Fisk's Kingpin in Spider-Man 4, especially since Kingpin has been teased as a major antagonist in the MCU's future street-level stories. While this could bring some of the pair's most iconic battles from Marvel Comics into live-action, both Spider-Man and Kingpin could see major power upgrades before they actually come to blows.
Spider-Man 4 has been suspected to be introducing the Venom symbiote suit, following on from the end of No Way Home. This could see Peter Parker get a huge power boost, increasing his strength, speed and healing powers. While this would make him a formidable foe to Kingpin, Wilson Fisk is also set to attain more power in the MCU's future. Echo's post-credits scene teased Kingpin as the future Mayor of New York City, which would give him the power to take control of New York's many street-level heroes, perhaps allowing him to take down Spider-Man without lifting a finger.
