Josh Brolin"s Reported DCU Role Could Redeem Two Of DC"s Biggest Box Office Bombs Of All Time

Josh Brolin's rumored DC role in Lanterns could finally redeem two of DC's biggest box office disasters. New reports state that Brolin has been offered the role of Hal Jordan in the DCU's upcoming Lanterns series. The series, scheduled to premiere on Max, is an intergalactic mystery featuring Hal and recruit Jon Stewart. The pair travel to Earth to investigate a mysterious murder with a dark secret. A Green Lantern television series has been in development for a long time, but it's finally gaining some traction, especially with Peter Safran and James Gunn taking over DC Studios.
Brolin isn't the only veteran actor in consideration for the role, as the Insneider reported that Ewan McGregor and Matthew McConaughey are also in the mix. Brolin is no stranger to superhero roles, as he played Cable in Deadpool 2 and Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. The actor starred in a DC film too, but this was a far less prestigious role. If he is cast as Hal Jordan, it could redeem his DC role while also improving viewers' perception of Green Lantern.
Josh Brolin As Hal Jordan Gives Him Another DC Role Besides Jonah Hex Jonah Hex is one of DC's biggest flops. Close Brolin's first role in the DC universe occurred in 2010's Jonah Hex movie. Brolin played the titular antihero, a legendary bounty hunter who killed criminals throughout the American West during the 19th century. While it seemed like a perfect role for the Dune actor, the film was anything but. Despite a solid cast featuring Megan Fox, John Malkovich, and Michael Fassbender, Jonah Hex is considered one of the biggest superhero flops ever and a massive flop for DC. The film only grossed $11 million against a $47 million budget, as audiences and critics unanimously panned it.
