Marvel Cinematic Universe star Charlie Cox trades in his Daredevil costume to become DC's Batman in new crossover fan art. Cox is heavily cemented as Matt Murdock after playing him over the three seasons of Netflix's Daredevil series before returning in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home. While Cox will lead next year's Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+, a fan has decided to picture the actor ditching his Marvel role for DC's Batman.
On Instagram, digital artist @bobby_art imagined Cox leaving Daredevil behind, becoming DC's Dark Knight, Batman.
Currently, DC has three live-action Batman actors running around its movie side. Both Ben Affleck and Michael Keaton return as their versions of the character in The Flash's multiversal story, while Robert Pattinson gives life to Bruce Wayne in The Batman universe. The Cox as Batman fan art is part of a series from the artist that saw Pattinson become Daredevil. Still, Cox could have played a fantastic version of Batman if he were not Daredevil.
Why Charlie Cox Would Be Perfect As Batman

With his future as Daredevil in the MCU looking bright — Daredevil and Spider-Man will spearhead the MCU's street-level side — Cox is not going to be playing Batman anytime soon. However, the actor would be a perfect pick to play the DC superhero. Cox has shown during his many appearances as Daredevil in two separate universes that he has the necessary acting range to play such a complex character as Batman.
Batman and Daredevil share many similarities in the comics, which would make for an easy transition from Marvel to DC for Cox. Both characters had seminal stories penned by comic book writer Frank Miller, with the creator imprinting both heroes with his dark storylines. The heroes both take to the night to protect their cities with whatever amount of violence is necessary without breaking their "no kill" rule. Additionally, both Batman and Daredevil lead a double life. Batman is seen by the public as the playboy millionaire Bruce Wayne, while Daredevil hides his identity even better as the blind lawyer Matt Murdock.
Cox's experience being the lead of not only the Daredevil series but really Netflix's entire Defenders universe shows he has the leading man quality necessary to inhabit Batman on the big screen. The DC character is one of the most popular superheroes of all time, which means casting him is no easy task. Cox's charisma and ability to make every Matt Murdock court scene as exhilarating as any Daredevil fight sequence would add an interesting dynamic to Batman, but the actor's long-term commitment to the MCU rules out that possibility.
