Marvel released a deleted scene from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier featuring Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes teasing each other, and it's a shame that the scene was cut from the finale. The scene was released to promote the 4k Steelbook release for the show's first season. In the 1-minute clip, Sam and Bucky meet to enjoy a delicious meal with Sam's family. Before the meal, the two characters start a friendly argument, where Sam teases Bucky about his diet when he was the Winter Soldier, while Bucky jokes about having chemistry with Sam's sister, Sarah.
The scene, initially revealed by Collider, has nothing to do with the main narrative but is an excellent example of character development. After all they've been through together, Sam and Bucky have a powerful bond, and they joke around like old college roommates. It also shows how far Bucky has grown, as he is comfortable interacting with large groups of people in public. Sam Wilson is getting his first solo outing as Captain America in Captain America: Brave New World. While this would be a good opportunity to continue his relationship with Bucky Barnes, Anthony Mackie confirmed that the Winter Soldier won't appear in Captain America 4. Instead, Bucky will be a leading member of the Thunderbolts team, a group of antiheroes taking on a dangerous mission in 2025's Thunderbolts. The group includes a reunion between Bucky and John Walker, but Sam won't be a part of that team.
It's unclear the next time Sam and Bucky will reunite, but Cinemacon footage of Brave New World did tease some upcoming scenarios. According to the footage description, Harrison Ford's President Ross asks Sam to form a new Avengers team, so Bucky could be someone Sam reaches out to. Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars are on the horizon, so those may be the best chances for the dynamic duo to team up again after their time in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
