Non-MCU Marvel Show"s Multiverse Crossover Chances Addressed By Series Creators

Summary
  • Hit-Monkey creators want the show to exist separately from the MCU to maintain its own unique universe and vibe.
  • Despite being distinct, there is potential for Hit-Monkey to cameo in future MCU projects due to the multiverse concept.
  • Hit-Monkey could fit well in the MCU's Multiverse Saga, possibly in Avengers: Secret Wars or a new Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
The chances of Hit-Monkey crossing over with the Marvel Cinematic Universe are addressed by the series' co-creators. Hit-Monkey is a TV-MA animated series that follows a Japanese snow monkey who becomes an assassin to avenge his clan's death and is mentored by the ghost of Jason Sudeiki's Bryce Fowler, a world-class assassin. Despite focusing on a Marvel character, Hit-Monkey is not part of the MCU. However, with the release of Hit-Monkey season 2, the series' creators comment on a possible MCU crossover.
Speaking to Screen Rant, Hit-Monkey creators Will Speck and Josh Gordon commented on the show's chances of crossing over with the MCU. According to Speck, Marvel has supported the team behind the animated series throughout its journey. Gordon reveals that their desire is for Hit-Monkey to "live in its own weird little universe." However, there is a chance the animated series' lead character could appear in future MCU projects or MCU heroes could come to the show, with Gordon saying, "Who knows, maybe eventually, it will find its way to the MCU." Check out the full quotes below:
Will Speck: They were like a great godparent. In the process, we definitely included them on storylines and gave them the ambition, and we often got the thumbs up. What's exciting now is that they've seen the show, they're in support of it, so we definitely feel like we're getting the benefit of Marvel as the underlying spiritual guide to this character from its origin.
Josh Gordon: But the kind of great thing about the show from the beginning has always been because we're not part of the MCU, we can kind of be these interesting little pirates over off in the corner, which we kind of like. We get the benefit of Marvel and their support, but we don't necessarily have to tie it into too many of the characters, and it can define and live off in its own weird little bubble, which we kind of like. We're a little harder than the brand tends to be, and they were cool with that. They were like, "Yeah, we get it. It wants to live in its own weird little universe." Who knows, maybe eventually, it will find its way to the MCU. But our ambition was always to just sort of build out this weird little corner.

How Hit-Monkey Could Still Show Up In The MCU Multiverse The Character Would Be A Perfect Fit For A Few Projects Close With the show's creators wanting to keep Hit-Monkey in his own "weird" bubble, any possible MCU crossovers would likely only be for cameos or perhaps a small role in a project. Since the animated series is set in its own universe, the multiverse would have to be in play for Hit-Monkey to meet MCU characters. With the Multiverse Saga set to come to an end with 2027's Avengers: Secret Wars, a crossover would need to happen before then.
Avengers: Secret Wars itself would be the best possible project for a Hit-Monkey crossover. Like what happened with Howard the Duck in Avengers: Endgame, Hit-Monkey could appear in a team shot for a cool cameo that does not need a lot of explanation other than the multiverse being involved. As the finale of the MCU's Multiverse Saga, the Avengers movie should include several different universes. Characters from animated projects like Hit-Monkey getting pulled into the movie in live-action format would make for a unique scene.
Hit-Monkey would have been a perfect multiverse cameo for Deadpool & Wolverine, and while it is unlikely that the character is in the MCU film, given how Marvel is keeping many secrets regarding the film's cast, perhaps the animated assassin could still appear. Hit-Monkey would also be great for a cameo role in a possible new Guardians of the Galaxy movie. Hit-Monkey could interact with the team for one scene, with Rocket Raccoon and the assassin either becoming fast friends or mortal enemies before the crew leaves him behind.
