Nicolas Cage"s Live-Action Spider-Man Character Comes To Life In Gorgeous Noir Art

Summary
  • A Marvel fan imagines what Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man might look like in Sony's Noir series.
  • Marvel's Spider-Man Noir is grittier and more violent than most Spider-Men across the multiverse. He even wields a gun and isn't afraid of killing his enemies.
  • Sony's Noir series will likely be extremely different from all previous live-action Spider-Man projects.
Nicolas Cage's live-action Spider-Man stars in a realistic piece of Noir fan art based on Sony's upcoming Marvel series. Set to release on Prime Video and MGM+, Sony's Noir series adds Nicolas Cage to the growing list of live-action Spider-Man actors, which started in 1977 with Nicholas Hammond and is currently spearheaded by Tom Holland in the MCU. With Kelly Marcel's Venom: The Last Dance seemingly concluding Sony's most successful live-action Spider-Man property at the moment, Noir might seek to fill the void with an A-list actor and a bold premise, likely set in an alternate universe.
As soon as Nicolas Cage's official Noir casting was announced, digital artist and Marvel fan arifinity shared on Instagram his take on what the hero could look like in live-action. The artist takes inspiration from Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 character design, adding Spider-Man Noir's emblematic hat and the gun that differentiates him from most Spider-Men across the multiverse. Two silhouettes stand on a building in the background, possibly suggesting the appearance of other Spider-People. See the image below:
Why Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man Noir Is Such An Exciting Departure Spider-Man Noir Is A Unique Version Of The Wall-Crawler Close Noir will likely be a Spider-Man project like no other, not only because Nicolas Cage is the oldest live-action Spider-Man actor, but also because Cage's Spider-Man will likely inhabit a very different Marvel universe than every reality Marvel and Sony have presented before. In the comics, Spider-Man Noir is active through Earth-90214's version of the Great Depression, in a grittier, film noir-inspired New York City. Spider-Man's villains are more grounded than usual in Earth-90214, and inevitable events — what the Spider-Verse movies call "canon events" — tend to be bleaker.
Film noir tropes such as cold-blooded murders, betrayals, the mob, and crime investigation are par for the course in Spider-Man Noir's stories
Spider-Man Noir himself is more violent than most Spider-Men. Earth-90214's Spider-Man wields a gun, and he isn't afraid of using lethal force if the circumstances warrant it. Villains such as Vulture, Kraven, and Chameleon die soon after Spider-Man first meets them, the former courtesy of Spider-Man himself. Film noir tropes such as cold-blooded murders, betrayals, the mob, and crime investigation are par for the course in Spider-Man Noir's stories. The same elements can be expected of Sony's Noir series.
Related New Spider-Man Live-Action Project Is Finally Telling The Story I've Been Wanting For 30 Years Spider-Man has a long and fruitful history in movies and TV, but his newly announced TV show will finally explore my favorite side of the character.
Nicolas Cage's Spider-Man will also have a different secret identity in Sony's Noir show. Instead of an alternate-universe Peter Parker, Cage will play a separate character who also develops powers and becomes a superhero. Hence, Noir's protagonist likely won't have to follow the same beats as previous live-action Spider-Men, especially if it isn't an origin movie. This gives Sony's Noir and its main star ample freedom to explore a unique Spider-Man with no live-action precedent.
