This 18 Second Spider-Man Clip Is The Perfect Example Of The Spider-Man Show We Need

With Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man set to show Peter Parker"s origin once again, the hero will be reset to his teen years. The Marvel Cinematic Universe series is set in an alternate timeline where Norman Osborn is Peter"s mentor instead of Tony Stark, more like in the comics or the first of Tobey Maguire"s Spider-Man films. The series stars Hudson Thames, reprising the role of Spider-Man after voicing him in Marvel"s What... If?, along with Coleman Domingo as Norman Osborn, Kari Wahlgren as May Parker, Hugh Dancy as Otto Octavius, and more. It will also feature Charlie Cox"s Daredevil.
When considering what a teenage Spider-Man series should be like, the first word that comes to mind is fun. Peter is still getting the hang of heroism at this point in his journey, and his naïveté and lightheartedness are equal parts endearing and entertaining. A clip from YouTuber BBWB anim channels this energy in less than 30 seconds through dynamic animation, character mannerisms, and an unusual choice of soundtrack.
Set to Katy Perry"s "I Kissed A Girl," the clip shows Spider-Man thwipping through the city while passing two other characters, possibly Mary Jane Watson and Harry Osborn.. Notably, the hero is clad in his mask, but instead of his suit, he"s wearing casual clothes. Peter is also using a pair of wired headphones, which comically fling about while he swings around.
What The 18-Second Clip Means For Spider-Man & His Show Potential Peter Parker Is Relatable And Entertaining Close The best depictions of Spider-Man focus on his relatability. Having Peter swing around just for fun while blasting Katy Perry gives the same energy as going on a drive with the windows down. Being a hero is hard enough, let Peter use his Spider-Man powers to decompress. The aforementioned clip"s choice of apparel and realistic depiction of motion are a satisfying way to show Peter"s abilities.
Moreover, the music choice is exactly the sort of unexpected and cheesy thing a teenager would listen to. An alternate reading of the scene could show a harried Peter rushing from place to place using his powers. Perhaps his full suit was not available to him. Either way, the video depicts Peter in a cute yet clumsy way that will hopefully carry over to projects like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.
Our Take On The Spider-Man Animated Clip Though it"ll likely channel more from the comics, Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man could draw on this same carefree spirit for their version of Peter. The MCU iteration of the character is equally fun-spirited, so it would make sense for him to swing around while listening to pop music. Regardless, seeing a new take on Peter and his origin in Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is an exciting prospect.
Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Rating Pending AnimationActionAdventuresuperheroes Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man is a 2D-animated series that retells Peter Parker's early years and pays homage to the character's original comics. Although Marvel Studios produces it, the show does not occur in the same MCU continuity as Tom Holland's live-action Peter Parker. Charlie Cox and Vincent D'Onofrio reprise their roles as Daredevil and Kingpin.
