Sony"s Sinister Six Plans Make Way More Sense With 1 Big Spider-Man Change

Beginning with Venom, Sony's universe of Marvel characters has slowly been building to the debut of the very first live-action Sinister Six team but is missing one crucial element in the group's formation. As Sony continues to capitalize on the popularity of Marvel's characters, it is clear that it is only a matter of time before it brings together its own team of superheroes or, in this case, antiheroes and supervillains, for a major crossover event. However, Sony's Sinister Six can't be a direct translation of the version seen in Marvel Comics and only one specific change can keep their inevitable team-up film from imploding.
2018's Venom kickstarted Sony's universe of Spider-Man supervillains, reigniting the studio's hopes of a Sinister Six project that had seemingly vanished with the death of Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man franchise. Although Venom: Let There Be Carnage was surprisingly devoid of hints at a larger universe, Morbius the Living Vampire took the first meaningful steps to unite a team of supervillains by introducing Jared Leto's titular vampire to Michael Keaton's Vulture. Future projects, including Kraven the Hunter, El Muerto, and Hypno-Hustler will certainly further Sony's Sinister Six agenda, eventually unveiling Spider-Man's signature team of enemies, perhaps in their very own self-titled film.
Sony's Sinister Six Shouldn't Fight Spider-Man Although the Sinister Six is best known for its frequent battles with the Amazing Spider-Man, Sony's burgeoning team of supervillains and antiheroes should target a completely different enemy altogether. Currently, Spider-Man has yet to appear in any films in Sony's new franchise, making him the biggest missing piece in building up to the Sinister Six. Despite the post-credits scene in Morbius hinting that the Web-Slinger does exist in Sony's universe, igniting theories that Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man could return in future films, even the iconic superhero's appearance wouldn't be enough to save the disastrous franchise from caving in under its own weight.
