All 8 Star Wars Rebels Characters Who Are Now In Live-Action

Star Wars Rebels is having a lasting impact on the entire Star Wars franchise, with many key characters either appearing in live-action - or expected to do so. Disney’s first major Star Wars release, Rebels initially had to deal with comparisons to Star Wars: The Clone Wars, as it was essentially that show's replacement. Set in the Dark Times of the Empire's reign, Rebels kept some elements from Clone Wars but took a very different narrative approach.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars was an anthology, whereas Star Wars Rebels had an episodic structure. As a result, Star WarsRebels got to flesh out its main characters, the crew of the Ghost, turning original characters like Ezra, Sabine, and Kanan into real fan-favorites. Five years after its finale, Star WarsRebels is now setting narratives and providing characters for some of the most important Star Wars projects, including The Mandalorian and Ahsoka. Here are all eight Star WarsRebels characters who have been, or will soon be, in live-action.
8 Chopper The Ghost's faithful droid Chopper was the first Star Wars Rebels character to appear in live-action, turning up as a background cameo in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. He can be seen on Yavin 4, when the rebels prepare for their attack on Scarif. The cameo was actually something of a spoiler for the end of Star Wars Rebels at the time, given it was accompanied by a mention of General Syndulla. This confirmed both Hera and her astromech would survive the final seasons of Star Wars Rebels, which take place before Rogue One in chronological order.
7 Kanan Jarrus Jedi Master Kanan Jarrus never actually appeared in person, but his voice actor Freddie Prize Jr. did get to participate in an actual Star Wars movie all the same. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker featured Jedi voices that helped provide Rey the strength to fight Palpatine; Kanan's was one of these voices. A live-action Kanan could only appear in a flashback or potentially as a Force ghost, given Kanan died in Star Wars Rebels season 4, episode 10.
6 Grand Inquisitor Star Wars Rebels introduced the concept of Inquisitors into the Star Wars canon; disciples of Darth Vader who hunted Jedi at the Emperor's command. This was a smart way to have Force-sensitive villains hunting Kanan and his Padawan, Ezra Bridger, without relying too much on Darth Vader. The Inquisitors' leader, the Grand Inquisitor, was originally voiced by Jason Isaacs; he was recast in the Obi-Wan Kenobi Disney+ TV show, now played by Rupert Friend.
5 Fifth Brother Another of the Inquisitors, the Fifth Brother was also introduced in Star Wars Rebels. Originally played by Philip Anthony-Rodriguez, the Fifth Brother joined the hunt for the crew of the Ghost following the Grand Inquisitor’s death. Sung Kang played the Fifth Brother in Obi-Wan Kenobi, which took place before the Fifth Brother’s death in Star Wars Rebels season 2’s finale “Twilight of the Apprentice”. Though the Fifth Brother did not get to fight in Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Inquisitors’ spinning lightsabers made their live-action debuts, namely with the Grand Inquisitor and the Third Sister.
4 Sabine Wren Star Wars Rebels introduced viewers to a Mandalorian scientist, scrapper, and graffiti artist named Sabine Wren, originally voiced by Tiya Sircar. Natasha Liu Bordizzo will take over as an older Sabine in the Ahsoka Disney+ TV show, which increasingly feels like a live-action Star Wars Rebels sequel. A first look at live-action Sabine was shown in an exclusive Ahsoka trailer screened at Star Wars Celebration 2022. Hopefully more footage will be released at Star Wars Celebration 2023.
Sabine is expected to have a major role in Ahsoka. The Star Wars Celebration-exclusive Ahsoka trailer revealed a live-action recreation of Sabine’s Specters mural, helping provide an in-universe explanation for why live-action characters from Star Wars Rebels look different to their animated counterparts; it's a result of Sabine's art style. It's possible Sabine will appear in The Mandalorian season 3, given a quest is being undertaken to find more Mandalorians.
3 Hera Syndulla Vanessa Marshall voiced Twi'lek rebel leader Hera Syndulla in Star Wars Rebels, and there have been reports she will be played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead in Ahsoka - although this has yet to be confirmed. She'd be a logical fit for a Disneny+ TV show that increasingly feels like a spinoff of Star Wars Rebels, picking up with so many familiar characters. Again, it's surely only a matter of time until Lucasfilm release footage.
2 Ezra Bridger Eman Esfandi has been cast as Ezra Bridger in Ahsoka, with the Jedi Padawan finally appearing in live-action. This is fitting, given Ahsoka seems to be on a rescue mission for Ezra; he was last seen jumping into hyperspace guided by purrgils, in a desperate move to save his homeworld Lothal from the Imperial leader Grand Admiral Thrawn. Ezra Bridger was originally played by Taylor Gray in Rebels.
