A Dark Knight Returns Villain Is Now Carrie Kelley"s Robin Nemesis

Warning: The following contains SPOILERS for Gotham Knights episode 3, "Under Pressure."An infamous villain from the classic graphic novel Batman: The Dark Knight Returns has been brought into the world of Gotham Knights to serve as the archenemy of Carrie Kelley's Robin. The inclusion of Carrie Kelley as Robin in Gotham Knights' ensemble was one of the most surprising aspects of the show, given that Carrie has never been a part of the mainstream DC Comics' continuity and was originally created for an alternate future timeline. Gotham Knights seems to have followed this bold choice up by introducing a villain with deep ties to Carrie Kelley's origin story from the comics.
The action of Gotham Knights centers around a group of teenagers who are framed for Bruce Wayne's murder and set up for a quick death. The teens are saved by Carrie Kelley, who reveals herself as Batman's partner in crime-fighting, Robin, after Bruce Wayne's secret identity is exposed to the world. This leads to an unlikely partnership, as the teens join forces with Robin to become the heroes Gotham City needs when dark forces seek to capitalize on the chaos caused by Batman's death. One of these dark forces is the Mutant Gang, which is, like Carrie Kelley, taken directly from the comic book miniseries Batman: The Dark Knight Returns.
