Mephisto Is Joining the MCU Far Too Late

Ironheart is heavily rumored to introduce the Marvel Cinematic Universe's iteration of the villainous Mephisto, but the Disney+ series' new character may be arriving far too late to make any meaningful impact on the franchise. The upcoming series is set to see the return of Dominique Thorne's Riri Williams after her debut last year in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, as she battles against Parker Robbins, a.k.a. the Hood, who will be portrayed by Hamilton star Anthony Ramos. Designed to depict the intersection between science and magic, Ironheart may finally introduce Mephisto to the MCU, though much of the excitement for his character has dissipated in recent years.
Appearing alongside Riri Williams in Ironheart, Sacha Baron Cohen is reported to portray the demon Mephisto in the upcoming Disney+ series, which is currently expected to premiere in early 2024. This has naturally led to rumors of Cohen's involvement in multiple other MCU projects in the coming years, including potential appearances in Agatha: Coven of Chaos and even a new Disney+ Special Presentation centered solely around his character. While Marvel Studios has yet to officially confirm any of these rumors, no information has yet emerged to disprove any of them, indicating that Mephisto's MCU debut could actually come before the end of Phase 5.
