Picard’s Star Trek Voyager Changeling Twist Is Heartbreaking

Warning: SPOILERS for Star Trek: Picard Season 3, Episode 7 - "Dominion"The heartbreaking reveal of a much loved Star Trek: Voyager character as a Changeling in Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 7, "Dominion," could have wide-reaching implications for the future. Out of options, and on the run from a Starfleet that has been infiltrated by Changelings, the crew of the USS Titan-A begin Picard episode 7 by trying to find someone within Starfleet they can trust. Unfortunately, the trusted friend that Commander Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan) reaches out to has been replaced by a Changeling, who delivers a terrifying threat that spells disaster for the character's future.
Trusted Starfleet officers being replaced by Changelings was feared by Commander Ro Laren (Michelle Forbes) in Star Trek: Picard season 3, episode 5, "Imposters," but now audiences get to see Ro's fears realized. When asked by Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) if she had attempted to contact Admiral Janeway (Kate Mulgrew), Ro said that she couldn't get past her gatekeepers. It becomes clear why when, in the opening scene of "Dominion", Janeway's trusted Vulcan friend, Tuvok (Tim Russ), who is now a Captain, is revealed to have been replaced by a Changeling.
