Picard Spinoff Star Trek: Legacy Still Not Happening, Confirms Showrunner

Star Trek: Picard season 3's showrunner, Terry Matalas, has confirmed that his proposed spinoff, Star Trek: Legacy, is not in development at Paramount+. Matalas, who also directed Picard season 3, episode 9, "Vox," masterminded the acclaimed final season, which reunited the iconic cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation while also introducing their offspring, such as Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), the son of Admiral Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden).
In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Terry Matalas was asked about the status of Star Trek: Legacy, which he and his creative team, as well as members of Star Trek: Picard's cast like Gates McFadden, LeVar Burton, and Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut, have openly championed. However, Matalas tempered expectations that Star Trek: Legacy is a sure thing. Read his quote below:
Terry Matalas: Let me be clear - THERE IS NOTHING IN DEVELOPMENT AT PARAMOUNT - Again, I need to be clear on this. This is just a pie-in-the-sky wish on my part. There is nothing in development. It would be amazing if one day they came to me and said they were interested, but as of press time, it's little more than a "hey, wouldn't that be neat!" But hey, stranger things have happened!
