Star Trek"s New Dominion War Twist Reveals the Borg"s Secret Role

A new twist is coming to Star Trek’s Dominion War–and it secretly involves the Borg. The Borg and the Dominion have never met on screen, leading to fan speculation over who is stronger. While IDW Publishing’s Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Dog of War #4, which releases this July, will not pit the two against each other, it does potentially introduce Borg technology into the Dominion War–which could turn the tide of the war.
IDW shared solicitations for books shipping in June and July with Bleeding Cool, including titles in the Star Trek line. The Dog of War #4 will be written by Mike Chen and drawn by Angel Hernandez. Previous solicitations have revealed that Star Trek: Deep Space Nine: The Dog of War kicks off when Quark smuggles a rare purebred Welsh Corgi, named Latinum, aboard the station; matters go from bad to worse when a scan of the dog reveals it has Borg components. The miniseries, released to coincide with Deep Space Nine’s 30th anniversary, follows Sisko and his crew as they try to piece together what Borg tech and a Corgi have in common. The solicitation for issue four introduces a new wrinkle to the story: as Sisko leads a stealth mission to retrieve Latinum, he learns this Borg tech is being used to arm the Dominion. If Sisko fails, then the war could be over for the Federation.
The Two Biggest Foes The Federation Has Ever Faced No two adversaries strike fear into the hearts of the Federation and Starfleet as much as the Borg and the Dominion. The Borg, a race of cybernetic beings from the Delta Quadrant, attack other species, assimilating them into their collective. They have attacked the Federation on several occasions, and each time the Enterprise has been instrumental in turning them back. Across the galaxy, in the distant Gamma Quadrant, lie the Dominion. A massive, fascist empire, the Dominion is ruled over by the shape-shifting Founders. A dark counterpoint to the Federation, the Dominion is based upon conquest and subjugation. The Dominion fought a bloody war against the Federation, a conflict that would grow to involve nearly every major political body in the Star Trek universe. As the two “big bads” of the franchise, fans have continuously wondered who would win in a showdown.
