Blade has suffered several setbacks during its tumultuous MCU production, and new story details reveal more issues with the movie's troubled journey from conception to screen. Now, a new report from Variety details some of the problems Blade has faced during its four-years-and-counting production. So far, the movie has gone through "at least" five writers and two directors. Furthermore, after one batch of rewrites, the script barely featured the eponymous Blade at all. According to Variety's report, "The story at one point morphed into a narrative led by women and filled with life lessons. Blade was relegated to the fourth lead..." Now that writing on Blade can continue after the resolution of the WGA strike, Logan writer Michael Green will resume duties. However, it'll be interesting to see where the movie ends up with its reportedly small $100 million budget.
Blade's Production Problems Explained

Upon its announcement, Blade was given an initial release date in 2023. However, due to its current production issues, Blade was moved to 2025, and that release date isn't definite, especially with the ongoing delays. Ali was announced as Blade after the Oscar-winning actor approached Kevin Feige and Marvel with interest in portraying the character within the MCU. Feige had no plans to make Blade but found it tough to ignore Ali, whose stardom continues to rise.
