When the discussion turned to Stewart's experiences working with Jonathan Frakes as a director, Patrick was quick to point out that he also directed five episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation, which Stewart says he "could not have done" with Frakes' help. I, by the way, directed five episodes. And I could not have done it without Jonathan because he advised me… and helped me. “These are the important things that you must deal with. There are other things that they will tell you are important. They’re not that important.” He said, “You have a wonderful relationship with the entire company, and that will lead you into the best work that they can do.” Indeed, that’s what I experienced.

Close At Vulture Festival, Patrick Stewart also praised his other cast mates who directed episodes of TNG and other Star Trek series like LeVar Burton, Michael Dorn, and Gates McFadden.
