A brilliant Marvel Studios trend has continued in Loki season 2, episode 5, introducing yet another real-world figure into the world of the MCU. Loki season 2's penultimate episode released on November 2, 2023, picking up after the major cliffhanger ending of episode 4. While the previous episode left the fates of Loki's primary team uncertain following the death of Victor Timely and the explosion of the Temporal Loom, Loki season 2, episode 5, "Science/Fiction," revealed that they had all been placed back on their branching timelines. This gave viewers insight into what these characters' lives had been like prior to them being recruited into the Time Variance Authority (TVA).
After being thrust back into their branching timelines, Loki season 2, episode 5, uncovered the backstories of Owen Wilson's Mobius, Wunmi Mosaku's Hunter B-15, Eugene Cordero's Casey, and Ke Huy Quan's Ouroboros, a.k.a. OB. Mobius' love for jet skis was revealed to have come from his past as a "personal water craft" salesman, while B-15 was revealed to be a doctor of some sort, perhaps a pediatrician. OB, while also being a notable scientist, had written down his adventures in the TVA as science-fiction novels, and Casey was revealed to be a prisoner in Alcatraz, an island prison in San Francisco, which brought yet another real-world figure into the MCU.
