Loki Retconned The MCU"s Time Travel Rules A 2nd Time To Make Him More Powerful

By changing the rules of time travel in the MCU, Loki season 2 made Tom Hiddleston's titular God of Mischief into one of the most powerful characters in the franchise. Hiddleston debuted as Loki in 2011's Thor, and has gone on to become one of the longest-serving actors in the MCU, though the version of Loki he portrays in the Multiverse Saga is a variant of the original version. After escaping from the Avengers during Endgame's Time Heist, Loki embarked on a new adventure in the Time Variance Authority, which saw him learn the ins and outs of the multiverse, and eventually become the staunch protector of its infinite branches.
When time travel was first introduced to the MCU in Avengers: Endgame, Bruce Banner and Tony Stark spent quite some time explaining several key time travel rules. While Scott Lang suggests that by going back in time to stop Thanos, their current timeline will change, Banner explains that "if you go into the past, that past becomes your future, and your former present becomes the past, which can't now be changed by your new future." This means that traveling through time wouldn't alter the MCU's present timeline, though this rule has since been broken in Phase 4's Ms. Marvel, and was broken once again during Loki season 2's MCU-changing finale.
