Across The Spider-Verse’s 4 Live-Action Universes Explained

Warning! This article contains SPOILERS for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse included four live-action universes among the many different dimensions that appear in the film. The follow-up to 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse managed to surpass the original film in every possible way, which is not an easy feat, as the first Miles Morales big-screen animated adventure took home a Best Animated Feature Oscar and many other awards throughout its run. Knowing the huge task they had if they were to improve on what the first film had done, the team behind Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse decided to go even bigger with the multiverse, which worked wonders in the sequel's favor.
Instead of being visited by multiple Spider-Man variants in his own world, Miles does a lot of traveling through the multiverse in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse. In his multiverse travels, the young Spider-Man finds his way into the Spider-Society's HQ, meeting what appear to be thousands of different Spider-Men led by Oscar Isaac's Spider-Man 2099. There, Miles gets a lesson from Miguel O'Hara about how the Spider-Verse and canon events — moments that must happen in all Spider-Men’s life— work. The sequence, along with a couple of other scenes in the film, introduced four different live-action universes to the animated Spider-Verse franchise.
