Star Wars" Jedi Origin Could Make Jedha More Important Than Coruscant

Star Wars' upcoming "Dawn of the Jedi" movie could make Jedha more important than Coruscant. The Star Wars prequel trilogy offered a vision of the Jedi Order in decline, far too closely bound to the Galactic Republic and thus vulnerable to the political manipulation of the Sith. But, although the Jedi and the Republic were generally considered to exist in a state of symbiosis, the two were originally separate entities.
This was subtly indicated in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which unveiled what seemed to be the earliest known Jedi Temple on the remote planet of Ahch-To. This was situated in a region of space known as the Unknown Regions, now almost impossible to navigate because of a series of chained supernovas that warped hyperspace; the Jedi presumably predated this catastrophe, and indeed the chained supernovas may have been some kind of ancient battle between the light and dark sides of the Force. Whatever the history may be, though, it is striking that the Jedi Order was born far from the Galactic Core, where the three worlds of Coruscant, Corellia, and Alderaan became founders of the Old Republic.
