The Infinity Stones Ruined One of Thor’s Best Villains In The MCU

Thor: The Dark World ruined one of the best Thor villains for the sake of setting up the Infinity Saga. At the crux of the storyline that defined the first ten years of the MCU was the six Infinity Stones. Over the years, the MCU found creative ways to introduce the Infinity Stones to the audience, but sometimes these efforts came at the expense of an arc.
One victim of this approach was Christopher Eccleston's Malekith. The character was introduced to the MCU as the leader of the Dark Elves and the main villain of Thor: The Dark World. In the comics, Malekith’s bloodlust stemmed from his tragic childhood and the violence he had witnessed against his race. He spent his years wanting to turn the world into a frozen wasteland so that the Dark Elves could thrive. Thor: The Dark World promised a look into this sinister comic villain, yet his MCU legacy ended up being unmemorable because of changes made to his story.
