The Marvels Has Already Fixed Avengers: Endgame’s Most Underwhelming Moment

With 2023's The Marvels, Marvel Studios has the perfect opportunity to correct one major missed opportunity from Avengers: Endgame. Scheduled for release on November 10, 2023, The Marvels will feature Brie Larson, Teyonah Parris, and Iman Vellani in an epic space-faring adventure as Carol Danvers, a.k.a. Captain Marvel, Monica Rambeau, and Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, find their abilities mysteriously entangled. Forming the MCU's first all-female superhero team, the trio will provide Marvel Studios' best chance at recovering from one hugely underwhelming moment in Avengers: Endgame.
In the early days of the MCU, Marvel Studios came under scrutiny for not putting enough attention on their female superheroes, with only one female hero on the original Avengers team: Scarlett Johansson's Natasha Romanoff, a.k.a. Black Widow. Male heroes such as Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor saw the most development, while Black Widow was only gifted her first solo project as part of the MCU's Phase 4 after her death in Avengers: Endgame. This paradigm shifted massively with the release of 2019's Captain Marvel, which introduced Larson's super-powerful Carol Danvers to the MCU, and the 2023 sequel will continue to fix some of Marvel Studios' biggest representation missteps.
