Recasting Luke Skywalker For The Heir To The Empire Movie: 10 Actors Who Could Succesfully Replace Mark Hamill

Recasting beloved actor Mark Hamill in the role of Luke Skywalker for future Star Wars titles is no easy task. Star Wars has been reluctant to recast the original trilogy stars, with Lucasfilm boss Kathleen Kennedy insisting Solo: A Star Wars Story taught the studio not to recast original trilogy characters. "I don’t think we would intentionally just look back at some of the characters like Luke and Leia and whatnot and decide arbitrarily to do a story," Kennedy explained at Star Wars Celebration 2022. "There would have to be a really strong reason why."
It increasingly feels as though events have provided this "really strong reason." Ahsoka has set up Grand Admiral Thrawn as a massive Star Wars villain in the period between the original trilogy and the sequels, and it seems inevitable classic heroes like Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa will help against the resurgent Empire. Given that's the case, it's surely only a matter of time before Luke Skywalker is recast - but who could possibly take up Mark Hamill's mantle?

He was the motion capture artist for Luke during the filming of The Book of Boba Fett, providing the body for artists to put the face of Mark Hamill onto. Even without the special effects providing Mark Hamill’s face, he bears a striking resemblance to Luke Skywalker himself. Hamilton has a short acting history, mostly revolving around video game voice acting and appearing briefly in a variety of television shows including The Orville, NCIS, and Grey’s Anatomy. Because Hamilton already has on set experience as the character working alongside Mark Hamill, he is certainly a good choice to play a recast version of Luke Skywalker.
