Ahsoka’s season 1 finale left audiences stunned with the reveal that Baylan Skoll had found statues of the three Mortis gods, but a theory explains why the Daughter’s head is missing. The Mortis gods first appeared in the Mortis arc of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and were the living embodiment of the balance of the Force. There were three gods—the Father, Son, and Daughter—with the Father representing the balance between his two children: the Son’s darkness and the Daughter’s light.
The Mortis arc from The Clone Wars will be critical for Ahsoka season 2, and it is even possible that the show will revisit the mysterious realm. In Ahsoka episode 8, Baylan Skoll could be seen standing on a statue carved of stone that showed the face of the Father, with the Son next to him. A statue of the Daughter could also be seen, though the god’s head was missing. It’s possible that the people of Peridea used to worship the Mortis gods, or that there was a gateway into the realm, and that’s what is calling out to Baylan Skoll—but what happened to the Daughter?

It’s unclear if Peridea will lead Baylan Skoll and other Ahsoka characters to Mortis, but it’s important to note that the Daughter was killed by the Son in The Clone Wars. The Son was trying to kill their dying Father, but the Daughter jumped in and saved him. The Mortis gods seemed to be ancient, with no real way of knowing when they first appeared or how long it had been since they were worshiped on Peridea. Morgan Elsbeth had said that the Dathomiri fled Peridea on Star Wars’ space whales before time was counted. It’s possible they fled to the main Star Wars galaxy to escape the Mortis gods.
Time on Mortis was also tricky, meaning that the gods’ worship on Peridea could have been several millennia ago. It’s unclear if where Baylan was seen was on Peridea or even Mortis, but the people who worshiped these gods could have been massacred by the Dathomiri and enraged the gods, forcing the witches to flee. The Daughter’s statue missing her head might be representative of the Daughter being killed by the Son. She was the first of the Mortis gods to die, and the only one to be murdered. There’s no real way of knowing when the head fell off the stature, but if it transpired when the Daughter was killed, the events from the Clone Wars era directly impact Peridea.
