How Ant-Man’s Kang & The Council Of Kangs Connect To Loki Season 2

Warning: spoilers for Loki season 2, episode 1.
Summary
  • The Council of Kangs, introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is likely connected to Loki season 2 and will play a key role in upcoming crossover events.
  • The death of He Who Remains in Loki season 1 triggered chaos in the multiverse, leading to the creation of the Council of Kangs.
  • Loki season 2 retconned the ending of season 1, revealing that Loki is actually in the past and time-slipping between different points in time, setting up the potential return of He Who Remains and dangerous consequences if he meets the Council of Kangs.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania introduced the Council of Kangs, and given the events of Loki season 1, the Council might connect to Loki season 2. Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors) has been set as the main threat in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Multiverse Saga, in big part thanks to his variants. Kang’s variants across the universe look for power in different ways, but Kang and He Who Remains took it to extremes, one by wanting to conquer the multiverse and the other by wanting to prevent it. Loki introduced He Who Remains, who was revealed to be the creator of the Time Variance Authority (TVA), and whose death has triggered major chaos in the multiverse.
Kang the Conqueror made his MCU debut in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where he tried to escape from the Quantum Realm but was ultimately defeated by Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne. However, Kang’s death caught the attention of the Council of Kangs, who began planning their multiversal uprising. The Council of Kangs is most likely a direct consequence of the events of Loki season 1, and so Loki season 2 will be key to the future of the Kangs in the MCU and in setting up the upcoming crossover events Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.
