  • Marvel Studios is focusing more on quality over quantity, slowing down production to ensure stronger projects in the future. Exciting new superhero teams, such as the Young Avengers, are also being set up for future storylines.
There are still many reasons for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to be grateful for Marvel Studios' franchise in 2023, despite some disappointments along the way. The MCU kicked off with 2008's Iron Man, and has since produced over forty projects across film, TV, and animation, spanning a decade-and-a-half, with Marvel Studios creating the most expansive, successful, and complex live-action superhero franchise. While many regard 2019's Avengers: Endgame to be the pinnacle of the MCU, Phase 4 and 2023's Phase 5 have introduced some major concepts, exciting characters, and world-changing storylines to the franchise, developing the MCU's Multiverse Saga fantastically, and making the future of the MCU incredibly exciting.
2023 has been a year of ups and downs for Marvel Studios, as not every project garnered a positive response. While the likes of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Loki season 2, and The Marvels were well received by audiences, Secret Invasion and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania didn't receive the same acclaim. WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes also brought Hollywood to a halt in 2023, throwing the MCU's future into turmoil as many projects were met with delays and reshuffles. Despite some disappointments, however, the MCU is still going strong, and there are some hugely exciting projects on the horizon that 2023 has helped to pave the road for.
