The introduction of a new hero in The Marvels may tease a tragic fate for one of the most powerful Avengers. Although the movie predominantly takes place in the MCU's primary 616 reality, Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) does end up in a parallel reality by the movie's end. As such, this reveals both a new hero and an alternate timeline that potentially implies a dark fate for Carol Danvers' Captain Marvel.
In The Marvels' post-credits scene, Monica Rambeau wakes up in another reality after sealing the dimensional rift which could only be done from the other side. Now, Monica has found herself trapped in this reality, revealed to be none other than the home of the X-Men including Hank McCoy's Beast who'd been caring for her (presumably at the X-Mansion). However, another hero is introduced known as Binary, looking exactly like Monica's deceased mother Maria Rambeau. As such, this may be teasing a dark fate for this reality's Carol Danvers.
