The MCU"s Tommy Maximoff Mystery Explained In Compelling Young Avengers Theory

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along episode 6.
Agatha All Along episode 6 included answers about Billy Maximoff but left Tommy"s fate unclear, yet a compelling Young Avengers theory may explain where the latter is. In Agatha All Along episode 6"s ending, Billy confirmed that he wishes to reach the end of The Witches" Road in order to find out where his twin brother is. The twins were created by Wanda three years prior in-universe, but the ending of WandaVision"s story saw the Hex that kept them alive dissipate, resulting in their souls finding other vessels.
Billy Maximoff"s soul found the body of William Kaplan, who had recently died in a car crash fleeing the Hex in Eastview. Thanks to this story, Agatha All Along episode 6"s Easter eggs were aplenty. References to WandaVision were found, as were many mentions of Tommy Maximoff and where he is if Billy is embarking down the MCU"s Witches" Road. Although Agatha All Along will undoubtedly address this mystery eventually, a theory linking to Marvel Comics" - and the MCU"s - Young Avengers storylines may have already provided the answer to Tommy"s fate.
Agatha All Along Explains What Happened To Billy Maximoff, But Where Is Tommy? One Twin Is Accounted For, But Where Is The Other? Close As alluded to, Agatha All Along episode 6 explains what happened to Billy Maximoff after WandaVision"s ending. The show explores the idea that Billy"s soul left the Hex to find a new vessel, finding one in William Kaplan, who recently died in a car crash. When Billy awakens, he does not remember his life as William Kaplan nor the events of WandaVision, yet remembers one name: Tommy. This is the name Billy shouted when he woke up after inhabiting William Kaplan"s body, and the fulcrum of his subsequent journey for answers about Westview.
Billy"s only goal is to find out what happened to Tommy, something he hopes the promises lying at the end of The Witches" Road can aid him with...
Eventually, Billy discovers what really happened in WandaVision. He finds out from WandaVision"s Quicksilver replacement Ralph Bohner that the Scarlet Witch and Vision had twins, constructed via the former"s magic. He discovers that these twins were called Billy and Tommy, confirming himself as Billy. From then on, Billy"s only goal is to find out what happened to Tommy, something he hopes the promises lying at the end of The Witches" Road can aid him with. As of Agatha All Along episode 6"s ending, Tommy"s fate is left up in the air.
The MCU’s Ms. Marvel Villain May Already Explain Where Tommy Is Kamala Khan May Have Already Faced The People Responsible For Tommy's Capture Close After Agatha All Along episode 6, a theory can be crafted that links to the MCU"s Young Avengers members. In Ms. Marvel, the titular hero clashed with an organization named the Department of Damage Control, first introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming. The DoDC became a villain of Ms. Marvel"s due to their attempts to control her as a young hero with new powers. Interestingly, the Department of Damage Control could explain where Tommy is during Agatha All Along, linking to the character"s comic book origins.

In Marvel Comics, it was explained that Tommy Maximoff"s soul inhabited the body of someone named Tommy Shepherd. Tommy"s powers of superspeed awakened and he accidentally destroyed a school, leading him to be contained in a power-dampening, high-security prison while the government conducted tests on him to turn him into a living weapon. It could be revealed that Tommy"s story in the MCU happened in the same way, only with the young adult being captured by the Department of Damage Control, who have previously opposed Ms. Marvel and could dampen the powers of Abomination in She-Hulk.
Tommy Being Captured By Damage Control Continues Setting Up The Young Avengers’ Main Villain Custom Image by Nicolas Ayala If this theory came to fruition in the MCU, it would continue setting up the Department of Damage Control as the main villain of the MCU"s Young Avengers. The MCU Young Avengers villain setup began in Ms. Marvel, and it would certainly make sense for the DoDC to oppose the formation of the younger team of heroes. After all, the DoDC was created by Iron Man with damage limitation from superheroes in mind. Based on what happened in Ms. Marvel, the DoDC sees younger superheroes to be a more likely cause of collateral damage.
This could see the DoDC outright opposing the Young Avengers should they form, and would tie to Tommy Maximoff nicely. In the comics, Tommy is broken free from his prison by the Young Avengers. If the MCU reveals Tommy was captured by Damage Control, the Young Avengers freeing him once Billy finds out his location in Agatha All Along could finally put the team on the radar of the organization, putting them at odds in future projects.
