叱吒風雲20載的「黑曼巴」布萊恩，在美國時間的周日(29日)發表了震撼籃壇的宣言：本季將是他NBA生涯的最後一季。「親愛的籃球啊，我準備好要放手讓你走了，讓我們珍惜每個剩餘的相處時刻吧。」今年37歲的布萊恩，球場表現已跌到生涯谷底，他傷痕累累的身體再也撐不起他的鬥志，他在theplayerstribune網站上發表一篇短詩，預告他的離去。

因此我會永遠愛你

但是我無法再繼續與你走下去

儘管季前不斷傳出布萊恩退休的流言，我們也知道這是遲早會發生的事，但是當布萊恩親自確認，還是令人無比的訝異。當然，有些人或許不那麼訝異，數日前「惡漢」巴克利告訴我們，布萊恩在場上的假動作變多了，「他每次投籃之前要做3個假動作，你知道嗎，因為他害怕被封阻，他已經失去以往的破壞力，」巴克利說，「我親身經歷過，我明白當我對防守者無計可施，只能用假動作的時候，就是我退休的時刻。」
