Marvel have finally released Deadpool 3's first trailer, and the new title - Deadpool & Wolverine - in parallel with Super Bowl LVIII, packing in Marvel movie references and promising a multiverse story for Ryan Reynolds' Wade Wilson. Crucially, as well as centering the dynamic between Deadpool and Hugh Jackman's returning Wolverine, Deadpool & Wolverine's trailer also introduces a major new villain drawn from Marvel Comics.
Deadpool & Wolverine's packed cast had partly been a secret, with question marks over the specific roles of big-name actors like Succession's Matthew Macfadyen and The Crown's Emma Corrin. Various set leaks also pointed towards the involvement of several returning actors from the Fox X-Men movie timeline and other Fox Marvel movies, including Jennifer Garner's Elektra, but the Deadpool & Wolverine first look only revealed the surprise return of X-Men 2 and The Last Stand's Aaron Stanford (Pyro). In a not-unexpected reveal, the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine's villain has also been confirmed by a brief first look at X-Men character Cassandra Nova, who may be key to Wade Wilson's TVA- mission in The Void.

Who Is Deadpool 3 Villain Cassandra Nova? Deadpool & Wolverine Confirms Professor X's Evil Twin Close A brief shot from the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer shows the silhouette of a bald figure from behind, sporting a huge stiff collar. The look suggests that Cassandra Nova's look in the upcoming sequel will be a comics accurate take on the original Marvel Comics character. Interestingly, the trailer also seems to confirm that a pocket of Marvel villains, including Pyro and someone who looks suspiciously like Fantastic Four's Doctor Doom, ruling over The Void, which was introduced in Disney+ series Loki. Introducing Nova as their leader might make sense, but her astral powers could suggest that she represents an even bigger threat to the multiverse's new timeline established in Loki season 2's ending.
Cassandra Nova's Comics Origin ExplainedThe bald-headed, hugely powerful Marvel villain, who boasts psychic and telekinetic abilities, is a "Mummudrai," a species of parasites that embody the exact opposite of their "twin", appearing in-utero before birth. Nova is introduced in Marvel Comics as the "twin" of the unborn Charles Xavier - hence the bald look - copying his DNA and creating its own host body. While not a true biological twin, Nova is essentially an exact copy of Xavier, and managed to survive his immediate attempt to kill her, eventually manifesting a new host body. Her ultimate goal was killing Charles Xavier, believing that to be the key to mastering the universe, and her first major storyline saw her manipulating Donald Trask III to commit a genocide on Genosha that wiped out 16 million mutants.

How Powerful Is Cassandra Nova? Cassandra Nova's Powers Explained If Deadpool & Wolverine copies Cassandra Nova's powers from Marvel Comics, she will be one of the most formidable villains ever seen in the MCU. She has superpowers comparable to those of her "twin" Charles Xavier thanks to copying his DNA. Not only that, but she arguably surpasses his powers, as her astral origin allowed her to also possess all of the powers Professor X could have had and any potential future powers he might gain. Those include telepathy, telekinesis, DNA duplication, and the ability to release her astral form from her physical body. Nova also has a healing factor and can phase through solid matter. In other words, she is a big deal.
