The MCU"s Newest Show Footage Has Me Even More Excited For The Scarlet Witch’s MCU Return

I"m even more excited for the Scarlet Witch to return to the MCU after the release of new footage from Marvel Studios" upcoming Wonder Man series. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings is one of my favorite recent Marvel projects, so I was thrilled to hear that director Destin Daniel Cretton will be bringing more heroes into the MCU, including Simon Williams" Wonder Man. Wonder Man is set to be released under the Marvel Spotlight banner in December 2025, and I"m even more excited for the series after the reveal of new footage.
The first footage of Wonder Man was released as part of a look ahead at Marvel Studios" upcoming Disney+ projects in 2024 and 2025. This gave us our first look at Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams, who was introduced as the villain-turned-superhero Wonder Man in Marvel Comics in 1964"s The Avengers #9. Wonder Man"s Marvel Comics history is rich and complex, and I would love to see some of this adapted faithfully in the live-action MCU, specifically Simon Williams" romantic connection to Wanda Maximoff"s Scarlet Witch.
I’m So Excited For Wonder Man After The Show’s First Footage Wonder Man Is Scheduled To Premiere In December 2025 Close Although the first footage of Wonder Man didn"t show off the titular character"s actual superhuman powers, it is brilliant to see Yahya Abdul-Mateen II finally in action as Simon Williams. I was also thrilled to see Ben Kingsley"s Trevor Slattery return to the MCU, as he became one of my instant favorite characters following his debut in 2013"s Iron Man 3. Wonder Man is one of the most powerful and significant heroes in Marvel Comics, so I"m very excited to see him join the MCU, and the new footage of the series has only supported by excitement.
It"s unclear how faithfully Marvel Studios will adapt Wonder Man"s origin story. In Marvel Comics, Simon Williams becomes Wonder Man after being enhanced by Baron Heinrich Zemo. He is sent to infiltrate the Avengers and lure them into a trap, but he ends up saving and joining the superhero team instead. I can"t wait to see Yahya Abdul-Mateen II"s Simon Williams receive his powers and become an actor in the upcoming series, which promises to be a fast-paced and exhilarating debut for Wonder Man that could even connect him to other MCU heroes.
Wonder Man’s Marvel Comics Love Triangle With The Scarlet Witch & Vision Would Be Great For The MCU Wonder Man Could Disrupt One Of The MCU's Most Important Romances

Simon Williams" debut in the MCU has me very excited for a number of reasons, one of which being that his iconic love triangle storyline with the Scarlet Witch and Vision could finally be adapted into live-action. Wanda Maximoff and Vision have had a close connection in the MCU since the latter"s debut in 2015"s Avengers: Age of Ultron, culminating in their fabricated life together in Westview in WandaVision. Their relationship has never been easy, and I think introducing Wonder Man into the mix would be the perfect next obstacle for the doomed lovers.

Related I’m Sure That Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch Will Return To The MCU Now More Than Ever After multiple recent updates, I"m now more convinced than before that Elizabeth Olsen"s Scarlet Witch is returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
In Marvel Comics, Wonder Man"s love for the Scarlet Witch saw him refuse to help revive Vision, saw him appear to Wanda when she"s in need after she resurrects him in an ionic form, and eventually saw him become romantically involved with Wanda, but this relationship didn"t last long. I am one of many who want Elizabeth Olsen to return as the Scarlet Witch. With Paul Bettany also set to return as White Vision in 2026"s Vision series, I reckon it would be great for Simon Williams" debut to add new complexity and depth to Wanda and Vision"s story.
Bringing Wonder Man, The Scarlet Witch & Vision Together Sets Up A Huge Superhero Team For The MCU Wonder Man's Debut May Hint At The West Coast Avengers

While I"d love for Wonder Man to cross paths with the Scarlet Witch and Vision to throw a spanner in the works of their relationship, I think this could also add credence to speculation about the formation of a new MCU superhero team. In 1984, Wonder Man became a founding member of the West Coast Avengers, a team which officially recruited the Scarlet Witch and Vision in 1988"s West Coast Avengers (Vol. 2) #37. My suspicions about the West Coast Avengers" MCU debut have grown stronger as the Multiverse Saga has developed, and Wonder Man"s introduction convinces me even more.
The West Coast Avengers first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1984"s West Coast Avengers #1, founded by Hawkeye at the suggestion of Vision, who wished to expand the Avengers" influence across the nation.
I reckon the MCU"s West Coast Avengers team could include West Coast heroes such as Shang-Chi, Ant-Man and the Wasp, She-Hulk and, now, Wonder Man. With the possibility of the Scarlet Witch and White Vision joining them, too, this would establish a supremely powerful superhero team that I would absolutely love to see brought to life in the MCU. Wonder Man may not only introduce Simon Williams as one of the MCU"s most powerful new heroes, but I think the series could also debut this new team, changing the landscape of the MCU forever.
