The MCU Will Easily Avoid Fox X-Men"s Terrible Mutant Crime

Marvel Studios can avoid one major Fox mistake when bringing the X-Men into the MCU. Fox started their X-Men franchise in 2000 and produced 13 films set in the shared universe before Disney acquired 21st Century Fox in 2019. Although several characters became franchise mainstays, most prominently Professor X, Magneto, and Wolverine, many others were introduced without plans of how they would be developed. Now that mutants and the X-Men are moving into the MCU, this is one huge problem that can finally be fixed.
Whereas Fox was able to build their franchise by immediately introducing the X-Men, Marvel Studios needs to be much more careful when integrating mutants into the already-established world of the MCU. Phase 4's Ms. Marvel confirmed that Kamala Khan is a mutant, and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever saw Namor introduced to the MCU, but some of the more recognizable mutants have yet to be seen. A variant of Professor X popped up during Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but Marvel Studios has been taking the X-Men's introduction slowly, which is great news for the MCU's rebooted X-Men team.
The MCU Will Have A More Established Plan For The X-Men The slow build-up of mutants in the MCU has been methodical and purposeful, only providing teases of some of the bigger names, including several hints towards Wolverine during She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Rather than thrusting the X-Men into the MCU immediately after acquiring the rights to the characters in 2019, Marvel Studios has put thought and patience into the team's introduction. This suggests that a more thorough plan has been put in place to integrate the X-Men into the MCU over a number of years, which spells good news for many X-Men-adjacent characters.
In Fox's X-Men franchise, many mutants characters were introduced that seemed set to have fruitful careers in the franchise's future projects, only to be dropped, forgotten, or ignored in subsequent films. Victims of this pattern were Magneto's Brotherhood of Mutants, Nightcrawler, Emma Frost, Angel, and Gambit, whose rumored solo project starring Channing Tatum never got off the ground. Having so many mutant characters to adapt from Marvel Comics could be the cause of this problem, but this is something that Marvel Studios can easily rectify.
The MCU Has A Better Track Record With Continuity Than Fox Perhaps the greatest cause of Fox's omission of mutant heroes was the fact that the studio played around with the X-Men franchise's timeline significantly, confusing continuity so much that nobody was sure which characters fit in where. Marvel Studios has already cracked the code of this theme, however, by creating one clear continuity in the main universe that is now being played with carefully in the Multiverse Saga. This clear through-line and interconnectivity between MCU projects mean that, even if one-off characters are featured in only a solo project, they always have the opportunity to return in future projects, should the storyline allow.
Most recently, this has been shown with Corey Stoll's return as Darren Cross, MODOK in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, as he was previously assumed to be dead after 2015's Ant-Man. This can be applied to any number of mutant characters, so even if some are introduced without a clear direction, future MCU projects can bring them back and make them pivotal to the story. In this way, the MCU's X-Men can have a much clearer and continuous storyline that isn't disturbed by complex timeline issues, and often-neglected characters can finally get their time in the spotlight.
