DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn reflects on how
Superman star David Corenswet had initially tried out for a big role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe before joining the DC Universe. DC Studios is working on their new DC Universe, with several Chapter 1, "Gods and Monsters" movies and TV shows in various stages of development. The first DC Universe movie that is currently being filmed is Gunn's Superman movie, which will set the foundation for the new superhero franchise.
Over the weekend, Threads user ech0es.act.3 asked Gunn if it was true that Corenswet had auditioned for Adam Warlock in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which served as the last installment for the filmmaker with Marvel Studios. Gunn responded on Threads that he had asked the lead star if he had tried out for the role before getting Corenswet got cast in Superman, and the actor had confirmed as much. The DCU co-CEO also noted that Superman's flying will be way different from how they tackled Adam, sharing the following:
I asked him about it and he said he did so I believe him, but I don’t remember it. And no what we’re doing now for flying is much more complex than what was done for AW.
