Tom Welling"s Superman Takes On Braniac And Doomsday In Smallville Fan Art

Summary
  • Tom Welling's Smallville Superman takes on Brainiac and Doomsday in fan art shared on Instagram.
  • Smallville ran for 10 years, making it the longest-running superhero show and paving the way for comic book shows today.
  • Hope remains for a Smallville sequel series or movie, with Michael Rosenbaum expressing interest in returning as Lex Luthor.
A piece of DC fan art has been shared that depicts Tom Welling's Superman of Smallville taking on terrifying renditions of Brainiac and Doomsday. Tom Welling's tenure as Clark Kent is one of the most memorable thanks in no small part to its length. Smallville ran from 2001 to 2011, making it the longest-running superhero show to date. It is no surprise, then, that Welling's Kent has encountered these particular members of his extensive rogues gallery - but they take on wildly different guises to this particular depiction.
The fan art was shared via Instagram by user @buffy2ville and shows Superman, Supergirl (which appears to resemble Laura Vandervoort's portrayal), Brainiac, and Doomsday in a desert landscape. The scene is like something out of Zack Snyder's Knightmare sequence, though with Superman on the offensive against villains instead of on their side. The depiction of Doomsday is particularly striking, showing him to be even more towering than seen in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The scene never played out in Smallville itself, but there is hope that it could make its way to the silver screen.
