Following the release of The Marvels, Marvel Cinematic Universe star Iman Vellani opens up about whether Ms. Marvel season 2 will happen. One of the big breakout characters of MCU Phase 4 was Kamala Khan, aka Ms. Marvel, played by Vellani, who starred in her own Disney+ show that brought the heroine to life. While Ms. Marvel season 1 finished on a cliffhanger for Kamala, her adventure was far from over as Vellani reprised the role in The Marvels this year.
For the time being, it is unclear where Kamala will show up next in the MCU. With the SAG-AFTRA strike finally over, Vellani has been able to do press for The Marvels movie, and recently opened up about her latest MCU experience. In an interview with THR, the young MCU star shared the following when asked if Ms. Marvel season 2 is possible at this point:

I am patient, and honestly, I hope all the love that Kamala is getting from this movie inspires people to be more vocal about wanting a season two. I would absolutely love to continue this story, and Kamala and her entire community has so much story left to tell. I want to see Bruno [Matt Lintz] again. I want to see Nakia [Yasmeen Fletcher] again, and that’s just me. So it would be really amazing to have a season two, and there’s so many different directions we can go with it.

Why Ms. Marvel Season 2 Needs To Happen

While The Marvels may be struggling financially at the moment, the consensus is that Vellani's Ms. Marvel is one of the biggest strengths in the MCU movie. Not only was she one of the best elements of The Marvels, but people want to see more of her in the MCU. Given where the MCU is at, Ms. Marvel season 2 is exactly what the franchise needs as they move forward.
The MCU has currently been working on setting a good path for the next generation of Avengers, including the Young Avengers heroes. The Marvels was a huge step forward in getting the young team set up, and it is because of Kamala, which could be a huge plot point in itself in Ms. Marvel season 2. At the same time, Ms. Marvel season 2 can also dive further into Kamala's growth as a hero, as it is key to remember that she is still very early in her journey.
Prior to The Marvels' release, Ms. Marvel director Adil El Arbi stated that they are "waiting for The Marvels" in terms of performance that will likely determine if season 2 happens.
It would also be great to explore more of Kamala having to juggle being a superhero in New Jersey, as well as her family life, with her parents and brother being another huge highlight from The Marvels. With Ms. Marvel also being one of the most prominent diverse heroes of the MCU, Marvel Studios have the opportunity to continue telling the story of one of the few Muslim superheroes who currently has a space in Hollywood. Hopefully, in one way or another, Ms. Marvel season 2 will go forward, even if the world has to wait till Phase 6 to see it happen.
