The MCU Created A Huge MCU Crossover Problem Only Spider-Man 4 Can Sort Out

Summary
  • Spider-Man: No Way Home's shocking ending poses a big problem for the MCU as it prevents him from being the connecting link between new and established heroes.
  • Spider-Man's participation in the upcoming crossover events will be a big issue as no one remembers him and new heroes don't know who he is.
  • Only Spider-Man 4 can fix this problem by reversing the spell or finding a way around it, allowing Peter to get his friends and allies back and develop his character further.
Following his multiversal adventure in Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but it has now created a huge crossover problem that only Spider-Man 4 can fix. Following the ending of the Infinity Saga, the MCU started focusing on its multiverse and the many dangers and mysteries in it. The MCU’s first multiversal adventure on the big screen was Spider-Man: No Way Home, which saw Peter Parker (Tom Holland) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) accidentally opening the gates to the multiverse, making way for an exciting crossover of Spider-Man characters.
However, the MCU’s Peter Parker had to make a huge sacrifice at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home in order to stop a massive multiversal issue: convince Strange to cast a spell that would make everyone forget who he is. As a result, Peter Parker is now completely alone as not even his best friends and colleagues remember him, and while this sets up some exciting stories for his next solo movie, it also creates a big crossover problem for the MCU that only Spider-Man 4 can fix.
Spider-Man: No Way Home Prevents Its Hero From Connecting The MCU When the Infinity Saga came to an end, and with Iron Man dead and the original Avengers team no longer active, Spider-Man was seen as the character who would bring together the two eras of the MCU. As exciting as Spider-Man: No Way Home was and as important as it is to Peter Parker’s future, its shocking ending is now preventing Spider-Man from being that connecting link. Spider-Man was in a unique position in the MCU as a young but very experienced superhero who was acquainted with the original Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and other active MCU heroes, so he could have easily been the connecting tissue between new heroes (especially young ones) and the ones who are already well-established.
Spider-Man’s return to the MCU is confirmed though not exactly when he will be back, but given the magnitude of the upcoming crossover events Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars, he’s expected to join the fight. But with no one remembering Spider-Man and the new heroes not knowing who he is, his participation in these crossover events will be a big issue, and fixing it during these Avengers movies would be very anticlimactic for Spider-Man 4, as it would see Peter coming back the same as he was prior to No Way Home’s final spell.
Why Only Spider-Man 4 Can Fix This MCU Problem Reversing the spell or finding a way around it so Peter can get his friends and allies back can only happen in Spider-Man 4. As this has been a major turning point in Spider-Man’s history, the MCU has to give it the time to develop and be fixed, which can’t really happen in the upcoming Avengers movies as they will be dealing with multiple subplots like Infinity War and Endgame did. The MCU reboot would only make the problem bigger, as it would be too risky to put Spider-Man back at square one without fixing No Way Home’s final spell and taking a look at Spider-Man’s life following his biggest sacrifice.
