Sony's upcoming
Spider-Man Noir TV show is moving forward as it lands a new co-showrunner for the upcoming Marvel series on MGM+/Prime Video. With Spider-Man movies conquering the big screen, Sony is prepping multiple live-action Spider-Verse TV shows for MGM+, with a deal to also air on Prime Video, as they look to bring more iconic Spider-Man heroes to life. Little is known about the project, including whether Nicolas Cage will be cast as Spider-Man Noir. Due to the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strike that were occupying the majority of 2023, it forced Sony to put pause on those TV shows.
However, as the SAG-AFTRA strike ended this fall, following the conclusion of the WGA strike, the Spider-Verse TV franchise is moving forward. According to Variety, The Punisher boss Steve Lightfoot is boarding Spider-Man Noir as a co-showrunner. Original Spider-Man Noir writer
Oren Uziel is still set to write the series and will serve as co-showrunner with Lightfoot. Outside of The Punisher, Lightfoot's body of work also includes Hannibal, Shantaram, and Behind Her Eyes. Spider-Verse's Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are still set to executive produce alongside longtime Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal.

Everything We Know About Sony's Spider-Man Noir Show Close While Marvel readers know Spider-Man Noir to be one of the alternate versions of Peter Parker, that won't be the case in the live-action TV show. According to the original report about Spider-Man Noir, the MGM+/Prime Video series will center on a yet-to-be-revealed character as the titular lead. Spider-Man Noir will also be a period piece as the Marvel drama will be based in the 1930s, following "an older, grizzled superhero" in New York.
For the time being, Spider-Man Noir will be set in its own universe, as it will not exist in the same world as Sony's other Spider-Man TV show, Silk: Spider Society. However, audience members who saw Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, will recognize the "Spider Society" subtitle as a possible hint that the multiverse will indeed factor into all the shows. If that is the case, that could organically set up a crossover with Spider-Man Noir while still being able to have it in its own world.
The bigger mystery right now is whether the live-action Spider-Verse shows will actually co-exist in Sony's Spider-Man Universe, especially with movies like Madame Web coming up. Given that Cindy Moon is the first Spider-hero to get her own show, time will tell if Silk: Spider Society ends up building a bridge with Spider-Man Noir and other unannounced Spider-Verse shows that Sony is working on at the moment. Hopefully, with
Spider-Man Noir now having its creative team set, casting can ideally start in the coming months.
